Heat pump to gas conversion in Loughborough

The Brief

The customer had been heating their property with an air source heat pump for around 13 years. Over that time the system had needed repeated repairs and ongoing maintenance, and keeping it running had become harder and harder to justify. They had already decided they wanted to move away from the heat pump and return to gas central heating before they contacted us, having seen a similar heat pump to gas conversion we had completed for a neighbour in Loughborough. What was needed was a full conversion of the property back to gas, with a heating system that would be simpler to live with and easier to look after.

What We Did

We talked the options through and recommended a modern high-efficiency gas boiler, which gives a straightforward heating system with easier access to servicing and repairs in the years ahead. We removed the existing air source heat pump and all of its associated equipment, then converted the property back to gas central heating. That meant running the new gas supply, carrying out the heating pipework alterations the change required, and installing the new condensate and flue. We fitted a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 25kW combi boiler, along with a magnetic system filter, a ScaleMaster scale reducer and a wireless room thermostat. The complete system was then tested and commissioned before we left.

The Result

The whole conversion took two days. The customer now has a modern, reliable gas central heating system that is straightforward to operate, service and maintain, with the new Worcester Bosch Greenstar 4000 fully tested and commissioned. It is a boiler installation we are particularly pleased with for another reason: this customer came to us after seeing the same heat pump to gas conversion we had carried out for their neighbour, which says more about the work than we can.
